A roll off dumpster is an open top container with wheels and are dropped of by specialized roll off dumpster trucks. Roll offs are commonly used by businesses, contractors, landlords, realtors and homeowners. The projects that need roll off’s are time-defined projects including home renovations and remodeling, yard debris do to landscaping, garage and shed clean outs, and demolitions of shed’s/small buildings and decks.
What are the different sizes of roll off dumpsters?
- 5 Yard Roll Off
- 10 Yard Roll Off
- 15 Yard Roll Off
- 20 Yard Roll Off
- 30 Yard Roll Off
- 40 Yard Roll Off
The dumpster sizes range from the 5 yard roll off(small kitchen clean outs) to 40 yard roll off(large home or building demolition or construction). When deciding on the size, call your local roll off rental company and they will help you decide on a size.
The reason why renting roll off dumpster’s are a so advantageous is that they literally roll off the truck to the area in which you specify. Roll off’s are dropped off and pick up for disposal by the roll off rental company; all you need to do is throw junk into it. For the amount of work that these companies do, (including convenience) the prices are pretty reasonable and in reality, save you money than if you were to do it yourself because of landfill costs of recycling (disposal fees), gas costs, and not to mention lost time that you will never get back if you do the logistics yourself!
Problem: Roll Off’s May Damage Your Driveway or Yard, But Here is A Quick Solution
The biggest problem that people have with roll off rentals is the damage it can cause to your property. When the dumpsters roll off the truck, they scratch surfaces they are placed on; or in some cases crack driveways. They scratch because the wheels are made out of metal to withstand the weights put into the dumpsters
The Solution. Simply put a plywood board wide enough and long enough for the dumpster to roll on. The plywood will crack and get damaged, but it will certainly protect your driveway or yard. Roll off companies will not provide the plywood so it’s up to you to find the plywood.
Important Note. Although the roll off company should be aware of this, you never want to leave it to chance. Make sure the roll off is placed on solid surfaces such as concrete, asphalt or gravel. This type of ground will not sink if it rains – I have heard many stories of dumpster trucks getting stuck picking up roll offs because it got stuck in muck and mud. Can you imagine what that scene looks like after they finally get the roll off out. Do yourself a favor and make sure a catastrophe like this never happens to you. Check out the picture below!
